Now Hiring: Technical Assistance Intern

Smart Growth America is seeking a paid intern to support our technical assistance program and our workshops for state and local governments’ across the country.

This position is an integral part of our technical assistance team, and plays a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of our workshops for local communities around the country. The Intern will assist with our work in major urban areas as well as our growing presence in rural communities. Core responsibilities include: logistical and research support for workshops and events, coordinating with workshop instructors and communities receiving workshops, authoring blog posts, promoting our technical assistance through social networks, and providing administrative support to the team.

Requirements
The position requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented person with excellent writing, oral communication, organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate logistics associated with event planning. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and track and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Candidates should have a strong interest in smart growth, economic development, transportation, community growth or related areas. Candidates should also have at least a bachelor’s degree and an educational background or work experience in public policy, community planning, or a related field.

Compensation
Interns for this position receive a stipend of $920 every two weeks. In addition, he or she will have six days of paid personal leave and paid leave on all federal holidays that occur within the tenure at Smart Growth America.

Timeframe and location
This position is full-time (40 hours a week) and begins in July. A commitment of six months is required. This position is based in Washington, DC.
