2018 Complete Streets Dinner
Join the National Complete Streets Coalition at our Eighth Annual Complete Streets Dinner, conveniently scheduled during the 2018 Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington, DC. This intimate and fun event brings together top Complete Streets professionals, policymakers, supporters, and friends to celebrate the successes of the movement over the past year.
The Eighth Annual Complete Streets Dinner will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Carmine’s in Washington, DC.
This year, we are honored to welcome both Keith Benjamin, the Director of Traffic and Transportation for the City of Charleston, and Assistant Commissioner Toks Omishakin of the Tennessee Department of Transportation, as our featured speakers.
Keith Benjamin is the Director of the Department of Traffic and Transportation for the city of Charleston, South Carolina. He oversees all transportation maintenance, planning and partnerships at the local, county and state level. Prior to his current position, Keith was Community Partnership Manager for the Voices for Healthy Kids Community Consortium with the Safe Routes to School National Partnership. In this role, he was responsible for the recruiting and developing of public and private partners that were dedicated to creating healthy accessible and safe communities across the nation.
Toks Omishakin is the Assistant Commissioner and Chief of Environment and Planning at the Tennessee Department of Transportation. He leads TDOT’s continued success in establishing environmental, multi-modal and transportation planning policies necessary to make it one of the best state DOTs in the country. He is responsible for the bureau’s administrative and project budget that exceeds $300 million annually. He leads the activities of the divisions of Environmental Services, Long-Range Planning, and Multimodal Transportation Resources.

The National Complete Streets Coalition, a program of Smart Growth America, is a non-profit, non-partisan alliance of public interest organizations and transportation professionals committed to the development and implementation of Complete Streets policies and practices. A nationwide movement launched by the Coalition in 2004, Complete Streets is the integration of people and place in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation networks.
