Our partners at State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI) are seeking a Transportation Partnership Specialist to strengthen our national network of state transportation leaders and help advance safer, cleaner, and more connected communities. SSTI works with State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) across the country to promote sustainability, equity, and transparent governance. They are based at the High Road Strategy Center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and partner closely with Smart Growth America. The deadline to apply is Dec. 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST.

The Transportation Partnership Specialist will work closely with the Managing Director to grow and support SSTI’s network of state transportation officials across the U.S. Specific duties include:

SSTI staff typically work onsite at UW-Madison. Hybrid and remote work may be considered. Some national travel is required.

Smart Growth America (SGA) seeks a talented and driven communications professional with experience in writing, editing, and strategic communications. This role is central to SGA’s external communications, supporting our mission to create healthier, more equitable, and connected communities. The title for this position—Associate or Senior Associate—will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications. The position reports to the Director of Communications and offers opportunities for growth, collaboration, and creativity.
