Kate Southerland is a Land Use and Development intern at Smart Growth America. In this role, Kate enjoys reading policy and zoning documents, analyzing data, and assisting with other related land use items.

Prior to coming to SGA, Kate worked as a Project Associate at Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation where she assisted with affordable development projects, neighborhood-based zoning matters, and grants. She also worked at Doyle Real Estate Advisors as a Market Analyst intern.

Currently, Kate is a graduate student at the Weitzman School of Design and previously studied at Bryn Mawr College. She serves as the VP of Communication for the Weitzman Real Estate Club and is also a teaching assistant for the Law of Planning. In her free time, Kate enjoys exercising, baking/cooking, spending time with family and friends, and listening to K-pop.
