Smart Growth America will join ULI Washington’s third annual Walkable Urban Places Conference on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Washington, DC, and we want to see you there.

The day-long conversation about housing affordability in revitalizing neighborhoods will dive into the complexity of how to create vibrant walkable communities for everyone. The event will bring together practitioners, advocates, and academics to talk about investment strategies, policy, regulations and place-based solutions for social equity.

Christopher Leinberger, President of Smart Growth America’s LOCUS coalition, will kick-off the day’s events. Then Chris Zimmerman, Smart Growth America’s Vice President for Economic Development, and Jair Lynch, a LOCUS Steering Committee member, will discuss how developers can maintain economic diversity in walkable urban places. Geoff Anderson, President and CEO of Smart Growth America, will moderate a panel on “Saving the Suburban Dream—Identity, Connectivity and Affordability”.

The event is co-hosted by ULI Washington and the George Washington University Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis and sponsored by LOCUS. In June, Smart Growth America and the Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis co-released Foot Traffic Ahead, a report ranking walkable urbanism in America’s largest metro areas.
