The National Complete Streets Coalition, a diverse coalition of prominent national organizations working for the adoption of Complete Streets policies across the country, is hiring interns for Fall 2011. This is an excellent opportunity for a student with an interest in transportation, advocacy, or nonprofits. Responsibilities include:
- Assist in projects to assess policy implementation efforts
- Work on federal policy issues, including research and outreach
- Support Coalition management activities
- Research and write materials on Complete Streets
- General administrative tasks including mailings, event planning, etc.
Requirements: Interns must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with exemplary writing abilities. Excellent organizational skills are necessary for success in this position. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required, and basic HTML and CSS knowledge is a plus. Applicants should have their own laptop for use during the internship. Familiarity or interest in multi-modal transportation is preferred, but not required. Internships are most appropriate for undergraduate students and recent college graduates.
Compensation and time frame: Internship schedule and hours are flexible depending on the intern’s schedule, but we prefer interns to be available part-time for 10 weeks in our downtown Washington, DC office. While internships are unpaid, we are happy to explore credit opportunities where applicable.
