Now Hiring: Transportation for America Policy Program Intern

Transportation for America, a project of Smart Growth America, seeks a Policy Program Intern to support its emerging Mobility on Demand/Smart City efforts and its 2016 Capital Ideas II Conference. The intern will be a core member of the T4America team and provide direct support for both the Policy and Smart City teams.

Responsibilities:

The Policy Program Intern’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting policy logistics management Capital Ideas Conference;
  • Assist in research, planning, and writing State Transportation, Advocacy, Research, and Training (START) materials, including items for the Capital Ideas Conference;
  • Supporting outreach and logistics management for T4America’s Smart City program; and
  • Researching state of practice for tech-enabled transportation systems, and providing technical support to T4America members and Smart City partner cities.

The T4America internship requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented person with exceptional writing, oral communication, and organizational skills and the ability to collaborate within a team and work independently with minimal supervision.

Candidates should have a strong interest in transportation, technology, smart growth, economic development, community growth or related areas. Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree and either educational background or work experience in transportation policy, urban planning, finance, public policy, business, or a related field.

Knowledge of Photoshop and leading new media strategies are a definite plus.

Candidates should be highly computer literate.

Compensation, location and time frame

The internship is full-time, 40 hours a week, with a stipend of $1840 per month. Minimum commitment of six months required. Potential to extend the internship is possible pending performance. Applications will be accepted immediately on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
