Smart Growth America is very excited to announce the addition of several new members to our staff.
Chelsea Allinger, formerly a fellow at the Governor’s Institute on Community Design, has been brought on board full time as a new Program Associate for the Smart Growth Leadership Institute, SGA’s technical assistance center. Chelsea previously held an urban fellowship with the City of Rochester’s Department of Recreation and Youth Services. She has a M.A. in Public Policy with a focus on Philosophy and Social Policy from The George Washington University and a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Rochester.
Joy Thompson is SGA’s new Communications Fellow. She joins the team with experience in communications and television production, and has produced for community-centered shows including “The Good News Baltimore” and “Wake Up Baltimore.” She received her B.A. in broadcast Journalism from Howard University and her M.S. in Media Management from Morgan State University. She currently resides in Baltimore, MD.
Alex Goldschmidt is SGA’s new Communications Associate. She joins the team after several years in campaign communications, most recently runnning online communications and media outreach for a campaign at Change to Win, a labor federation. She previously served as Publications and Online Editor at Wal-Mart Watch, where she first learned about smart development strategies.
Devon Barnhart, is SGA’s new Deputy Federal Policy Director. Devon most recently served as Legislative Assistant to Sen. Arlen Specter, where she advised the Senator on Environment and Public Works Committee and Transportation Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee issues. Devon recieved her J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law at Penn State University, and her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University.
