Jared Klukas is the Land Use and Development Associate for Smart Growth America. Jared’s initial interests in sociology and land use burgeoned into a passion for advancing social equity through inclusive planning policy within both the natural and built environment.

Prior to joining Smart Growth America, Jared served as a Policy Fellow for Desegregate Connecticut. During his time with DesegregateCT, he participated in zoning research and advocacy projects that were dedicated to increasing housing diversity and transit-oriented development across the state of Connecticut. He has also worked as a Research Technician for the Engineering for Human Rights Initiative, where he investigated transportation accessibility barriers for people with disabilities and elderly individuals through GIS mapping and data analysis.

Jared holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Environmental Studies with a minor in Human Rights from the University of Connecticut. He also completed a semester abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
