The Commonwealth is home to a vibrant ecosystem of dozens of core industries, small businesses, and enterprises that, together, are the heartbeat of its thriving local economy. SGA’s own Calvin Gladney joined other esteemed smart growth advocates to discuss best strategies for strengthening small and local businesses in Massachusetts’ communities, which include targeted grants, subsidizing ‘micro spaces’ for local artisans, and introducing flexible zoning regulations that are welcoming to parklets and popups for local retailers.
